Dec. 10th, 2008 07:55 pm Final Grade

Well, I just checked and I got a 14.5/20 on my last paper, giving me a final grade for the class of 84%, a B.

My final GPA: 3.67! An A- average!

Now to just get off my kiester and get a higher paying job so I can actually afford to pay back the money the gubmint legbreakers are gonna want in 6 months.

Dec. 2nd, 2008 12:35 am DONE!

I just turned in my last assignment. I am done. 18 months with only 3 weeks off total.

Today is my last day. Once the grade comes in, I will officially have my Masters of Business Administration.

If I get a B or better for this class(if my math is correct), I should graduate Cum Laude if not Magna Cum Laude. (If UoP does that or not)

I'm kind of glad it's over, but now begins the next phase, looking for a better job, since I believe I am now vastly overqualified for my current job.

If anyone knows anyone hiring an MBA grad with a BSME (bachelor of science in mechanical engineering) undergrad, lemme know and I'll shoot you my resume'.

Sep. 18th, 2008 09:57 pm Feeling a little better.

So, apparently, several hundred other students have also had attachments disappear from their posts and it's a Tech Support Known Issue. Hopefully, my prof will accept that as a reason why my paper was not posted on time and grade it without penalty.

I am really not happy with the nitpickiness of this particular professor. 11 more weeks and I'm done!

Ok, I'm livid.

When I went to post my assignment for the first week of class, I may have inadvertently not attached the document. Since I didn't log in on Tuesday (one day after it was due), I didn't catch that it didn't post. When the prof told me on Wednesday that it didn't post and I would get a 0, I tried to show that I tried to post it, but she won't budge. The assignment is 10% of my grade. I sent her the document I tried to post, but since it was more than 1 day late, I get no credit. This means the best I can get in the class is a B+. I am 2 classes away from graduating, and I currently have a 3.83. I am trying to graduate Magna Cum Laude. My only help is that tech support can verify that I tried to post a document. I doubt they will be able to help.

Grr!

Aug. 22nd, 2008 09:29 am Well, I did it, unfortunately.

As some of you know, I recently purchased a motorcycle. It's a real nice 2001 Honda Shadow Sabre 1100cc. It's not a small bike as I'm not a small man. Well, yesterday, I decided to take it up to a parking lot near my house to practice slow speed maneuvers as I haven't ridden in years. (and even then, not much) When doing a slow takeoff and turn, I stalled the bike and it decided it really was tired and wanted to sleep. Yes, I laid it down. Real gentle like. The problem though is that in doing so, I really tweaked my left hamstring. I thought some ice and some tylenol would help (and it did for a while), but this morning, it took me 15 minutes before giving up on putting socks on, so I called into work and told 'em "hey, I'm an idiot and really want to come in, but I'm physically unable to." Hopefully, they'll email me some work to do so I don't lose too much leave time.

They say that almost all new bike owners lay their bike down within 3 months of buying their bike, so I hope to hell that this is my turn and I have gotten that out of the way. (damage to the bike is minimal, btw. Just need to readjust the mirror and maybe bend the shift lever back down a little)

Jul. 31st, 2008 01:20 pm Haven't updated in a while...

So, things are tumultuous as always.

  • Went to SWRE, spent waaaay too much money to go and while I was there.

  • I am just starting my 11th of 13 classes for my MBA (Current GPA: 3.8ish)

  • I finally bought a motorcycle (2001 Honda Shadow Sabre, 1100cc)

  • I decided to test the "no two objects can occupy the same space" principle with my roommate's car. (It's driveable, but still needs work done)

  • Money is tight, as everytime I think I have enough to spend on stuff for me, something else pops up that makes me give that money to someone else. (Usually some schmuck named BILL, See previous two bullet points)

  • A good friend is in town and we're having some fun.(including seeing The Dark Knight in IMAX tomorrow and sightseeing on Sat)

So, that's how my life has been going recently.

My maternal grandmother passed this morning here in Dallas/Ft. Worth TX. The ironic thing is, I came down to celebrate her 90th birthday, which would have been Tuesday and will end up staying for her funeral on Monday.

Feb. 26th, 2008 02:52 am Halfway there

Well, as of about an hour ago, I am officially halfway done with my MBA. 6 1/2 classes done, 6 1/2 classes to go. Current GPA is around a 3.85 and I want to keep it above a 3.75 if I can help it. No suma, but I may be able to eke out a magna. And that would be the shit. Going from graduating by the skin of my teeth to graduating magna cum laude. I guess it was true what they said back at Tech, Engineering does translate to mean pre-business.

Jan. 21st, 2008 02:49 pm USCC in the air.

So, you'd think trying to schedule leave in January for the rest of the year would allow one to get all the spots you'd want, right? Not necessarily.

My boss is taking the Friday of USCC off of work and "You can't take that day off." My only hope is that one of my (ex?)coworkers who is currently down at UVA-Wise (in the armpit of VA) could possibly come back up, or maybe be back up already, to come in and work that Thursday and Friday, the days I'd want off.

I so want to get out of this industry and into one that actually knows what the hell holidays mean. I worked today (even though we left early) and I worked Friday, which was a state holiday. The courthouses were closed both days, and heck, even one of the court websites was down today (meaning no work could be done for that county).

The good news is I do have time off for SWRE and will have time off for ICC once I find the dates.

I also scheduled time off for Christmas, but apparently since I took the day after christmas off, I have to work the day after thanksgiving.

Grr.

Jan. 16th, 2008 01:25 am Get to know you Meme

Because we never really know each other as well as we think, in response to this post I'd like you to ask a question. Anything about which you are curious, anything you feel you ought to know about me. Silly, serious, personal, fannish. Ask away. Then copy this to your own journal, and see what people don't know about you.

I reserve the right to answer in personal email.

~* Make a post to your LJ with a list of twelve holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and interest-related ("I'd love a icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for new stamp sets") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

~* Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post so that the holiday joy will spread.

~* Surf around your LJ to see who has posted a list. And now here's the important part:

~* If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

~* You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy.

~* There are no guarantees with this project, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

1. Someone special to spend New Year's with
2. World of Warcraft TCG cards (any set, prefer the most recent)
3. A good LJ icon that's "me"
4. A dvd rack
5. A CD rack
6. A 2nd Roommate (or someone to chip in towards house expenses at least)
7. A good job that I like when I finish my MBA program next year
8. Winning Lotto ticket would be nice.
9. The Sun Eater sword for my Warrior in WoW (I'm a geek, sue me)
10. A girlfriend that understands and appreciates my geekness
11. A con where all my friends from all over come to, but isn't interrupted by silly game and drama.
12. All my friends who are suffering through medical conditions to have at least one full day where it doesn't bother them and they can do whatever they want.

Dec. 7th, 2007 01:19 pm Avenue Q

So, [info]capntypo and I went to go see Avenue Q last night with one of his coworkers. It was HI-LAR-I-OUS! The action and the facial expressions on the actors (and sometimes the lack of facial expressions on the muppets) made the songs even more funny.

Something you don't get from the soundtrack that is great in the live show is the Bad Idea Bears. Two adorably cute teddybears that keep giving Princeton and Kate really bad ideas that end up with them in trouble.

If you ever get a chance to see the show, go see it. It's definitely worth it, even if you have to stifle yourself from singing along like I did.
